MEANINGLESS Development Update #01 - Future Plans

(UPDATE 31/03/20) The Game has changed art directions drastically since this post was made. This does not reflect the current state of MEANINGLESS. This post has since been retroactively updated to reflect the new title of the project, being 199X. Please follow @MeaninglessReal on twitter for more frequent and up to date development updates!

Hi there everybody, time for the First Development Update on 199X! Please note everything regarding this project is Subject to Change, from Images to Video or even the whole premise of the Project as a whole. Thank you for Understanding.

First of all, thank you all whether you come from the Discord Channel, the Subreddit or just stumbled across the project while surfing the seas of the Itch.io Store, for following the what feels like perpetual development that is going into the The Backrooms Prototype, it really is the main driving factor that is driving me to develop the best experience as I can as an Indie Developer!

Title Screen!

Now, onto the Development Log! As you can see from the image above, This is your first look at the first ever Title Screen for the 199X Prototype. This was done using Unitys fantastic UI features thanks to the recent adoption of TextMeshPro by the Unity Team. Because of TextMeshPro I now have the capabilities to use custom fonts easier than ever thanks to TextMeshPros fantastic font system allowing for quick workflows which lead to more intuitive, optimised and most importantly, functional UI elements such as this fancy Title Screen.

Now with that small technical and graphical adjustments listed and out of the way, I'm going to use the remaining space in this Log to talk about my plans for the Project going forward. As stated on this page, this game is listed under the Prototype Category, why you may ask? I just dont feel like I could do a game idea based on such an open ended concept justice. The amount of creativity that could be put into this project from the ominous level designs to the just as, if more even more ominous and disturbing denizens that roam the Backrooms halls, it just seems like a project that is better off in the hands of a more creative developer that could really bring these concepts to life in such a way  that captivates the end user.  However when the Prototype is eventually completed, It will be available to download from this page for the public to enjoy a Slice of what i have planned for this project if it goes into a full development cycle following the release of the prototype.

Thank you again for supporting the Development of the Backrooms, stay safe out there everybody!
